PROCEDURES:

Step 1:
- Gently beat egg(s) with a fork and set aside about 1/8 for glazing in step 3.
- Mix egg(s), oil, water, and vanilla and put in bread machine basket.
- Next, add flour, sugar, and salt to basket
- Finally, poke a hole in the flour mix and pour in yeast.
- Put basket in bread machine, set machine to Dough cycle, and run.

Step 2:
- Cover a baking pan with dry Parchment Paper (or cover with aluminum foil and lightly spray with oil).
- When dough is complete, place dough on a lightly floured surface and divide into three equal parts.
- Mold each third into a 15" tube and place in baking pan.
- Loosely braid the tubes and pinch the ends together
- Cover with plastic wrap and let set for 30-60 minutes

Step 3:
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Generously brush entire surface of dough with the egg set aside in step 1. Sprinkle with poppy seeds, sesame seeds, or other favorite toppings
- Bake in center of oven until golden brown, about 20-30 minutes.
To reduce over-cooking bottom of loaf, you can place the pan in oven on top of another inverted pan.
- When done, transfer challah to cooling rack.
